Contexto
Southwest Piauí, a region rich in Cerrado biodiversity, faces serious socioenvironmental issues, such as deforestation, excessive use of pesticides, and land disputes. The Gamela Indigenous communities suffer with the invasion of their lands, threats and violations of human rights. According to MapBiomas (2022), Piauí has lost 355.589 hectares of native vegetation, averaging 221 deforested hectares every day. The requested resources will be used to chart and register the indigenous territories in the “Tô no Mapa” app, to elaborate descriptive memorials and to create directives for an Environmental and Territorial Management Plan (PGTA), strengthening the fight for socioenvironmental justice.
