Objetivos e público alvo
The “Intersectional Radar” project aims to strengthen the comprehensive security of human rights defenders in Baixada Fluminense, focusing on Black (cis and trans) women. Actions such as the 1st Seminar of Comprehensive Security for Human Rights Defenders, psychological and legal assistance, and the elaboration of a booklet with self-protection directives will be realized. The project also includes the charting of defenders in the territory, public consultations, and the production of a podcast to raise awareness about safety and human rights.
Contexto
The Baixada Mulher Institute, comprised of feminist Black women, faces daily threats such as racism, sexism, physical and verbal aggressions, and even feminicide. The organization’s president has a protective measure against an aggressor, and a collaborator was recently a victim of feminicide. The project seeks to create collective protection strategies, such as the participation in the Municipal Public Security Council of Nova Iguaçu and the promotion of actions of collective care.
Sobre a Organização
Founded in 2019, the Baixada Mulher Institute acts in Baixada Fluminense, promoting social justice and the protagonism of Black women. During the pandemic, it has realized 123 free legal assistances for women in situations of domestic violence, distributed care packages, and promotes actions for tackling oppressions. The organization is led by Black women, including professionals of multiple areas, such as philosophy, law, social services, and communications, all engaged in the fight for human rights and racial equality.
