Objetivos e público alvo
The project aims to strengthen the comprehensive security of the human rights defenders who take part in the Elza Soares Feminist Collective, as well as that of partnered leaders, through actions such as: the improvement of safety infrastructure in the Elza Soares Sociocultural House, the development of a monitoring and protection app, training in self-defense, risk assessment, and awareness campaigns about violence against defenders. The priority target group is women and LGBTQIAPN+ people in situations of vulnerability, who face physical, psychological, and digital threats due to their acting in defense of human rights.
Contexto
The Elza Soares Feminist Collective has acted for five years in the defense of women and LGBTQIAPN+ people’s rights in Novo Hamburgo/RS, facing constant threats and attacks. In 2022, the collective’s headquarters was targeted by a political attack, with damages to the house’s structure and pets. The collective’s president and other leaders have suffered direct threats, monitoring, and persecution, including firings for transphobia and digital attacks. The project arises as a response to this reality, seeking to create mechanisms of individual and collective protection to ensure the continuity of the collective’s work.
