General Call for Proposal 2024 – Voices for Rights and Justice

    Objetivos e público alvo

The project aims to strengthen the organization of Bororó women, promoting the fight against gender violence, alcoholism, and suicide among youths. It seeks to conduct a gathering of women for the exchange of knowledge on traditional agriculture, institutional strengthening, and strategies for the tackling of violences. The priority target group is 100 Bororó women, as well as 50 women from other Indigenous peoples of Mato Grosso.

    Contexto

The Bororó people faces severe violations of rights, such as violence against women. The loss of land and invasion of Indigenous lands deepens the poverty and cultural disrupting. The project seeks to tackle these challenges, promoting the organization of women, the exchange of traditional seeds and knowledge, and the creation of collective strategies to fight violence and strengthen Bororó culture. The resources may enable the realization of the First Meeting of Bororó Women about Traditional Agriculture.

    Sobre a Organização

The Federation of Indigenous Peoples and Organizations of Mato Grosso (FEPOIMT) represents over 40 Indigenous peoples from the state, including Bororó women. Collectively organized, FEPOIMT promotes the defense of Indigenous rights, local culture and the autonomy of communities. The coordination is led by women, and the decisions are made in community councils. The federation is part of networks such as the Brazil’s Articulation of Indigenous Peoples (APIB) and the Ancestry Warriors Articulation of Indigenous Women.
