Objetivos e público alvo
The project aims to strengthen the comprehensive security of collaborators and activists of GOLD, focusing on the protection of projects’ manager Deborah Sabará, a human rights defender who has been targeted by persecutions and transphobic attacks. The actions include the installation of security equipment in the organization’s headquarters (cameras, electronic gates, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits), as well as training workshops in self-defense, digital security, psychological first aid, and conflict resolution. The priority target group is collaborators of GOLD, especially trans women and travestis, who face elevated risks due to the activism in defense of LGBTQIAPN+ rights.
Contexto
GOLD has acted for 18 years in defense of the LGBTQIAPN+ population’s human rights in Espírito Santo, promoting actions of employability, healthcare, security, and culture. However, the organization and its members, especially coordinator Deborah Sabará, have faced constant threats, including political persecution, transphobia, and criminalization attempts. GOLD’s headquarters, located in Vitória, lack basic security infrastructure, which exposes collaborators to physical and digital risks. The project arises as a response to this reality, seeking to create a safer environment for the continuity of the organization’s work.
