Objetivos e público alvo
The project aims to politically strengthen the Warao Indigenous people sheltered in Maceió, promoting the creation of the Warao Indigenous Association of Alagoas (WARAO JAJO TATU) and articulating public policies that attend to their specific demands. The priority target group is the Warao Indigenous people, who face social and cultural vulnerability due to the humanitarian crisis in Venezuela and to the forced displacement to Brazil.
Contexto
The humanitarian crisis in Venezuela has led thousands of Warao Indigenous people to seeking refuge in Brazil, including in Maceió, Alagoas. These refugees face challenges such as the lack of adequate public policies, discrimination and the difficulty of integration. The Warao Indigenous Association of Alagoas arises as a response to these violations, aiming to strengthen the political and cultural organization of the Warao, as well as granting access to basic rights. The requested resources will be used in the organization of training gatherings, meetings with public officials and the consolidation of the association, promoting the Indigenous people’s autonomy and political participation.
