The South and Far South of Bahia are regions marked by historical conflicts involving Indigenous peoples, farmers, woodcutters, and the agribusiness. Indigenous leaders, especially women, face constant threats, including murders, persecutions, and physical and psychological violences. The Ybityra Porang Tupinambá Association, founded in 2006, acts in defense of Indigenous rights and in the protection of traditional territories, seeking to strengthen the resistance and safety of communities in recovery.
