    Contexto

According to the Violence Map, crime rates in Brazil are extremely high when compared to other Latin American countries. Pernambuco is one of the most violent states in Brazil. Violence committed against groups considered “minorities” is frequent with regard to women and children and, in smaller numbers, to the elderly. The number of people who die due to acts of intolerance to affective-sexual orientation and gender identity is worrying and sometimes goes unnoticed in the statistics. In 2001, Pernambuco registered 270 violations of LGBT rights per 100 thousand inhabitants (3.07%). In the countryside, this data gets even more impacting due to the absence of policies oriented and designed for this population. Most of the public managers do not understand the agenda and do not build tools and methodologies that are sensitive to the topic, which is still a taboo to many public officials and to the population.

    Sobre a Organização

Seven Colors LGBT Group’s mission is to contribute to the implementation and execution of public policies for the LGBT population and to the demystification of the subject, taking it to the social movement sphere in order to contribute to the construction of public policies for the LGBT movement, seeking to ensure the realization of human rights to all people.
