    Objetivos e público alvo

The project “Support Network: Women Listening to Women” intends to improve the support provided to women victims of violence.

According to the grant applicants, although various measures already exist to encourage filing complaints against such violence, in most cases, after a difficult process of encouragement and/or empowerment, women reach the police precincts or health services and are victimized for a second time. After suffering at the hands of her aggressor, the woman suffers institutional violence.

The campaign aims to raise the awareness of civil society and public agencies handling complaints against violence concerning the importance of receptiveness and support and knowledge and enforceability of the Maria da Penha Act, besides specifically aiming to encourage filing complaints in cases of aggression.

    Sobre a Organização

The group’s mission is to defend women’s human rights, contributing to their empowerment and autonomy.

The activities include regular biweekly meetings with women. These meetings have a social and educational approach and focus on specific themes, divided into three groups: Elderly Women’s Citizenship, Young Women’s Citizenship, and Lesbians’ Citizenship.

The organization participates in the Expanded Forum of the Program to Eradicate Child Labor (PETI) and holds meetings through the “Maria Antonia Community Library”, called Philosophy of Knowledge and Citizenship Video Collection. Activities also include organization of the Women’s Computer Center and the Center for Financial Autonomy (Community Kitchen).

    Parcerias

Members of the group also participate in the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents (COMDICA), the Collegiate Body of the Pernambuco State Women’s Forum, the Recife Municipal Women’s Council, the State Council for Women’s Policies, and the Black Women’s Network.
