Communications specialists and activists debated the political scenario and alternatives to confronting the current conservative trend during the seminar, “Communications, violence and human rights”, held by the Brazil Human Rights Fund at the FGV Law School in São Paulo in April. Violence against activists was one of the central themes of the debate, which also dealt with the need to strengthen communications strategies as a way of increasing the visibility of human rights violations. After the seminar, there was a screening of the documentary “Defensorxs”.

In June, activists from several generations and origins participated in a round table held by the Brazil Fund at its headquarters in São Paulo. Members of the Board of Trustees, staff and special guests analyzed the current human rights panorama in the country, reflecting on the threats to progress made in recent decades, new actors and the challenges to organized civil society, especially the perspective of financial support for their work.
