Members of Brazil Fund visit project on surveillance of indigenous land in Acre

From May 28 to June 2 the project coordinator Maíra Junqueira and the assistant Maria Chiriano were in Acre to visit a project on surveillance of indigenous lands supported by the 2011 Call for Proposals. The work is performed by the ‘Hunikui do Caucho’ Association of Growers and Agroextractivists in the Kaxinawá do Igarapé do Caucho Indigenous Land. This is the second smallest indigenous territory of Acre, with the largest population per hectare. The four villages – Dezoito Praias, Caucho, Nova Aldeia and Tamandaré – are surrounded by farms, settlements and the highway BR 364, which connects the Capital Rio Branco to the city of Cruzeiro do Sul.
