Taciana Gouveia, projects coordinator at Brazil Fund, visited supported organizations in Rio de Janeiro, in November. The visited groups work with issues such as the militarization of favelas and impacts caused by UPPs (Pacifying Police Units) in the lives of young black people; the rights of children and adolescents; the rights of the LGBT population; and the right to religious freedom for people of religious communities.

Mariana
Maíra Junqueira, deputy executive coordinator and coordinator of relations with society at Brazil Fund, participated in late October of the seminar “Rio de Gente: como recuperar o Rio Doce?” (on how to recover Rio Doce), conducted by Greenpeace Brazil and the Rio da Gente project, in Mariana (MG). She was one of the debaters of the table “Rights of the populations affected by the disruption of Fundão dam: Krenak people”. To read about this experience, click here .
